Teaching my girls about Godly sex!

I don't know about you... but figuring out how to educate my children about sex in a Godly way was intimidating the crud out of me!!! As Christian parents Russ and I want our children to learn about sex in context of what we believe.

We believe that God made sex a beautiful gift to be shared only in a marriage relationship. We also want sex to be an open and comfortable topic in our home. Sex is a tremendous blessing and we don't want our kids to feel weird about it or be afraid to talk about it. We want them learning about sex from US and not Hollywood's demented version or from friends who don't know anything either.

We also believe that adoption is something God values so highly that He chose us through spiritual adoption and chose adoption for His own son Jesus.

How in the WORLD was I gonna find a book to help me explain ALL that??? WELL I DID!!! This book is precious and amazing. It covers creation, God's plan for love and marriage, God's plan for sex AND God's plan for adoption!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? It's AWESOME!

It has two sets of writing. The big words are written for younger children and give more basic information. The little words go into more specifics. This book is amazing! My children love it. Kaitlyn (5 1/2) and I have gone through the portion with the large print words. Zoe (10) and I have gone through all the info. They were both very comfortable with the way the info was presented and it has helped me feel more equipped to handle the topic well. Anyway... I thought I should pass it along since I love it so much. Here are the links to Amazon for this book and some others that I ordered. I am using them all and like them.

This one I got for Zoe. It goes through all aspects of personal care for young girls entering puberty. It is terrific. Very glad I got it for her.

I have read this to Zoe and Kaitlyn. I think it's a great book as well. It presents the information in a different but great way. I find it helpful to have both books.

I actually didn't order this book but have heard it's great. It's made for younger children. I think like 3-5yrs old... not sure.

I ordered this book to use in the near future with Zoe. It addresses many questions she may have about sex from a biblical perspective. I have looked at it. In talking to her she still is very unaware of many of the issues addressed so we won't go into it yet. We'll address things as we go. It's handy to have it here though. I'll keep all these books close at hand and make sure I keep sex an open and comfortable topic with my girls.

GOOD LUCK talking about S-E-X with your kids!!!! Hope this helps. :0) Angel

Girfriends Giggle!

Girlfriend's Giggle is one of my favorite events of the year! This was the 3rd year attending for Wendi and I. IT'S SO FUN! The event is a fundraiser for the Women's Shelter. You can spend the whole night doing fun girlie things like waxing, massages, reflexology, eyebrow(OOPS EYELASH!! LOL!) extensions, henna tattoos and WAY WAY more! It raises a TON of money for such a great cause. What a fun night. The ultimate girls night out. :0) Angel

Kaiya knows all the important words!

It cracks me up when I discover how much Kaiya has locked in that cute little head of hers. This morning she popped out with words I didn't even know she knew yet. It cracked me up. This is how our conversation went this morning...

Kaiya- Momma, hungry.

Me- OK.. you want an apple with peanut butter?

Kaiya- NO!!!

Me- OK... you want a cheese taco?

Kaiya- NO!!!

Me- Well, how about a banana?

Kaiya- NO!!!

Me- Well Kaiya. What DO you want for breakfast?

Kaiya- CAKE!

Me- Cake? Did you just say cake?

Kaiya- Yes, CAKE!

Me- (totally giggling) Kaiya, no cake right now.

Kaiya- CANDY!

Me- (now really laughing) Did you just say CANDY???

Kaiya- Yes, CANDY!

Me- Kaiya baby. I'm sorry. You can't have cake or candy for breakfast.

Kaiya- WHYYYYY???

Me- Kaiya, you can have some cake later. Cake is a special treat. You need to eat good food right now.

Kaiya- OK....

I adore this kid. :0) Angel

Happy Birthday To My Zoe Girl!

Our precious Zoe is 10 YEARS OLD today!!! Can you believe it??? I am so proud of my baby girl. I met a scared little pumpkin in Guatemala when she was only 6. I could not be more amazed at how gorgeous this girl's heart is. She is my favorite 10 year old in the whole world. I chose the song Innocence by Avril Lavigne for her birthday video this year. The lyrics remind me so much of my sweet baby girl. I hope you enjoy it. Here are the words...

Innocence

Waking up I see that everything is ok

The first time in my life and now it's so great!

Slowing down I look around and I am so amazed

I think about the little things that make life great

I wouldn't change a thing about it

This is the best feeling

This innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay

This moment is perfect, please don't go away, I need you now

And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by

I found a place so safe, not a single tear

The first time in my life and now it's so clear

Feel calm I belong, I'm so happy here

It's so strong and now I let myself be sincere

I wouldn't change a thing about it

This is the best feeling

This innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay

This moment is perfect, please don't go away, I need you now

And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by

It's the state of bliss you think you're dreaming

It's the happiness inside that you're feeling

It's so beautiful it makes you wanna cry

It's the state of bliss you think you're dreaming

It's the happiness inside that you're feeling

It's so beautiful it makes you wanna cry

It's so beautiful it makes you want to cry

This innocence is brilliant, it makes you want to cry

This innocence is brilliant, please don't go away

'Cause I need you now

And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by

This innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay

This moment is perfect, please don't go away, I need you now

And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by

Kaitlyn Reading For Her Homeschool

This is Kaitlyn reading today. She is 5. I had to move her up to 1st grade Language Arts cause she was plain bored with Kindergarten LA. She cracks me up. Thought it would be fun comparing it with the video from when she was 3. :0) Angel

Homeschool with a 3 year old

I ran across this video of Kaitlyn doing Math when she was 3 and it made me giggle. Funny little mess.
