Phone Blogging with my HTC Hero

I have a brand new phone! I am so excited about it. It's my early Christmas present from my man. Hurray!! It competes with the IPhone but I like it better for a few reasons.1- you can have 6 apps open at once instead of one.2- the Sprint plan is a lot cheaper than the AT&T plan. Also.... not sure about the IPhone camera but the Hero has 5 megapixels. Oh and it zooms in and out.

I really can't begin to tell you about all the AWESOME capabilities this sucker has. For instance...right now I am Blogging on my phone with my Blogger application. How cool is that? Some of my favorite apps are the Facebook app, Twitter, pedometer, amazon shopping app, calorie counter, gmail.... and SO MUCH MORE!!!! Anyway, I am completely sold on my HTC Hero. Maybe I'll even be able to blog more from my phone.;)

What does it MEAN to be HOMESCHOOLED??

This video CRACKS ME UP! If you have my sense of humor I am certain you will enjoy it as well. ;0) Hilarious AND right on!

On a fun side note... MY homeschoolers do NOT have to wear denim jumpers with apples sewn on. We CAN listen to "SECULAR" music.... GASP! We watch Hannah Montana and wear costumes on Halloween. Oh- and Mom sometimes says, "DARN IT" and then writes it on her blog. Imagine. Some of you are shocked and some greatly relieved. Hee hee.... Angel

Love this interview...

So sweet.... Angel

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Hi, My name is Angel and I was homeschooled...

I was reading this article today about adults that have been homeschooled. It occurred to me that this is not something that I regularly discuss but it is something that has greatly shaped who I am. If you have ever been interested in how us crazy homeschool kids turn out you may find it interesting. I sure did!

So I was pondering.. Why don't I talk about homeschool more? Sure I might show you our schedule but I'm not going to attempt the whole why we chose homeschool for all our children conversation. Mercy no.

Discussing homeschool can be so tricky... mostly because I feel like people get defensive about it. I don't want to make people feel that I am judging the choices they are making. I know so many wonderful parents who have decided to educate their children in a variety of ways. They have FABULOUS families and precious children. I trust that they are seeking God for what their children need.

So there's people that think I am judging them... Then there are people judging me. Why would I want to do that? What about socialization? Yada, yada, yada... I generally just take the Zoe escape route. You know, she didn't know English, no schooling, blah blah... just to not have the judging conversation.

Can we just agree to have a no judgement zone here?

Do you guys ever feel like it's tough to be real about who God made you cause some one's gonna be upset by that?

I've told my BFFs before, "I sometimes walk around feeling like a human disturbance." :0) I do tend to choose a very different path in so many ways. I guess sometimes it makes people uncomfortable.

Often I make very different choices and I feel strongly about things which leads me to the paths I take. Maybe being homeschooled gave me the courage to walk my own path even when people thought it was weird. Who knows!

HOWEVER, I am not under any illusion that the choices I make are always the right ones for everyone. My feeling is that unless the Bible spells it out as right or wrong I'm not going to try to define it. There are sin issues and then there is a whole bunch of grey.

Anyway, it seems I felt the need to spill a little. Perhaps I will even gain enough courage to give my opinions on my own blog. Sadly, it seems I have the courage to take the path less traveled but don't like to admit to it. Hee hee. Hmmmm... guess we'll see.

I want to introduce all of you to a very cool way to give.

Have you ever felt frustrated with just handing over a check to an organization not REALLY know where it was going to go? I certainly have felt that annoyance.

Often there have been certain things that I really wanted to contribute to but it seems really hard to find a place where I can give to projects knowing they have accountability.

Have you ever felt silly cause you didn't have very much to give and wondered if it would even make a difference? Yup, me too!

Wouldn't it be amazing if there was just one place we could go to find projects from all over the world and really start chipping away at this problem even if you only have $10 to give? Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to point our churches and friends to somewhere they could easily start contributing to things that truly matter?

Well, that is what is all about.

Do you feel strongly about clean water for third world countries? You can find a clean water project and give.

Do you feel passionate about helping orphans in Uganda? Well, you can find a project for that too!

Want to see before and after pictures of what's being done so you KNOW things are happening the way they should? They will be on the site!

BUT WAIT! What if you don't have a lot of money? NO PROBLEM! is all about working as a community to put the little we have together to make a BIG DIFFERENCE! Donate as little as $10 and watch little miracles start to happen.

Hopemongers are dealers of hope- sounds like something I'd like to be!

Check it out!

If you like what you see as much as I do you can help spread the word by blogging about it, putting on a blog badge, facebook about it, twitter about it, e-mail people....

We all make a difference every day. It's just a choice of WHAT kind of difference we want to make. So whatever we do let's make it purposeful. HUGS! Angel

A Movie I Can't WAIT To See!!!!!!!!

My mom and I saw the preview for this movie a couple of weeks ago and I had tears by the time the preview was over. I can HARDLY WAIT to see it! It's based on a true story. What better story is there of someone opening their eyes to what really matters and having life be changed forever? It's the story of my life and so many of yours. I have high hopes for "The Blind Side."

Chinese Fan Club or Angry Mob???

I just wanted to post and say... well, I'm suddenly getting a lot of comments written in Chinese.

This is ponderous since when I was in China my blog was blocked. I could write on it through the editing portion but could not view it. So I don't know if I have been un-blocked or what. I'm not sure if I am very popular in China now or very UNPOPULAR because I have no idea what all these comments say!

ANYWAY! That is really beside the point.. I suspect these kind readers are having my blog show up translated for them but when they leave comments they do not translate back into English for dumb little ol me.

I have tried translating the comments on Babble Fish- which is of no use at all. I do not feel comfortable publishing these comments when I don't know what they say.

I apologize to anyone who has tried to leave a kind comment and not seen it show up. I am not trying to ignore anyone... I'm just limited to English and mediocre Spanish. Does anyone know a better free or low cost translating service that does a better job with Chinese characters than Babble Fish?

Confessions Of A Washed Up Blogger!

I admit it..... I am a horrible, washed up blogger. It's not for lack of material. The list of things I WANT to blog about are about a mile high. I blog in my brain.....truly I do... let us call them brain posts. The time to actually sit and write out the posts evades me time after time. I know this is a season. Surely one day I'll be a good blogger again- right? :0) Hugs to anyone out there who still bothers to check this vacuum of empty space presently called my blog. Angel

PS My friend Holly is recovering extremely well from her surgery. She is a rock star and I am forever blessed to have her in my life. I am amazed by her love, strength, faith and courage.

For my Holly

Tomorrow morning one of my dearest friends in the whole world will go into surgery to fight cancer. I wish desperately that I could do more. That I could make it go away. It seems the task God has given me is to love her through it. I could not be more blessed to walk through her life with her day by day. I love you more than you know Holly.

Getting Ears Pierced

Last week Kaitlyn decided she was finally ready to get her ears pierced. She had been trying to work up the courage for years. :0) When Kaiya heard her talking about getting her ears pierced she started yelling, "YAY!!! Kaiya ear pierce too!!!" So I talked to her about how it would hurt a little and she was- as usual- FEARLESS! We called Sweet and Sassy to find a time when they had 2 people on duty so we could do both ears at once. The girls were SO BRAVE!! We had a great time celebrating our big girls.

Pizza Time!! Just another reason we love home school.

Last week we were studying Italy in Geography. We decided to make our own gluten free pizza to really get into the spirit of everything. It was surprisingly yummy. My girls can COOK!

The new "princess" dress

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

A few weeks ago Kaitlyn lost her FIRST TOOTH!!!!

Even cuter... her BFF Madeline lost her first tooth the SAME WEEK!

It doesn't get ANY more adorable.

I can't believe they are old enough to lose teeth now.

I'm not gonna lie.... I almost cried. So proud of our big girls who are growing so fast.
Being toothless is the best!
