Thank you doesn't cut it....

There are some moments that thank you doesn't seem to cut it. If we took time to consider our lives more often I believe "thank you" would be more often on our lips.

We have food, water, shelter, homes, people who love us. For that alone we should be deeply grateful. Beyond that it gets ridiculous. We have education, TVs, cell phones, cars, vacations, soft beds, video games, movie theaters, playgrounds, libraries, gyms, churches, football stadiums, theme parks, books, first class medical care.... so of course we just shine with joy right? If only. It seems we more easily focus on the things that bother us, upset us, inconvenience us. We easily find ourselves complaining when all around us is comfort and luxury. We have a doctor- we have to wait too long- the copay is too high. We have a car- gas is too expensive- it has a dent that bothers us. We have a house- it's not as big as we wish it was- we want something nicer. Hmmmm. Why is that?

I do not mean to say there is not pain- deep pain in our lives. Certainly we see it all around. Yet, how much joy is missed while we are busy complaining? How much pain do we cause while we lust after things we should not have? What would our lives look like if we began to celebrate and recognize how deeply blessed we are?

As I look at my life right now I am overwhelmed with the blessings I see. I have done nothing worthy of the gifts God has poured out on my life. I am lavishly blessed. I long to be more purposeful in focusing on the joy given to me. Today- in my heart- thank you doesn't begin to be enough. Thank you doesn't cut it. Angel

Black Friday

I believe it's named correctly... Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with running out on a Friday to catch a good sale. However, I have a HUGE problem with the heart that drives so many in our country. As a nation we are out of control and it breaks my heart. All around me I see proof of people caring more about STUFF than about people. Stories like this break my heart.

Worker dies at Long Island Wal-Mart after being trampled in Black Friday stampede

I pray that we will wake up to what matters. No sale at Wal-mart is going to make or lives happier or more fulfilled. In our house there are two rules- that's it... love God and love people. What else is there that matters? If you are loving God and loving people you are going to be just fine. Stuff is not bad but it's not important. It's just stuff. What a sad empty life when your life is driven by what you can aquire next. Angel

Giving Thanks and Giving...

Thanksgiving is such a great time of year. I LOVE IT! I think it's my favorite holiday! It's all about relaxing, EATING, spending time with family, MORE EATING, napping, MORE EATING, and taking time to acknowledge how blessed we are. As we sit around eating and enjoying our family and friends it makes us realize how much we have. We are truly blessed. Maybe this year we should gather our children together and decide a way we would like to pass along a blessing. Maybe this moment can teach them how blessed we are... help spark compassion and generosity in their little hearts. What greater gift could we give them than a thankful and giving heart? If you would like to use this moment to pass along some of the blessings God has given you here are just a few great ideas.

Tom Davis (the awesome guy partnering with RLC in Ethiopia) has a really fun way to help children in need. You can raise money for orphans and get a chance to go with Tom Davis on a trip to Africa! Chances are you will meet some of the RLC crew on the trip too. So cool... check it out on Tom's Blog

I have seen first hand the PURE JOY in an impoverished child's eyes when you give them a pair of shoes. It means SO MUCH to them! I am excited about this awesome program...

Here’s a great way to “give thanks” to God this Thanksgiving - buy a pair of shoes for someone living in a third-world country. If you sign up for the

Soles4Souls “50,000 Pairs in 50 Days” Campaign, you can share the Gospel of “good news to the poor” for just $5. Here’s how it works: Go to A $5 donation buys two pairs of shoes. Everyone that’s reading this has $5, and everyone has 2 minutes. From start to finish, donating is literally three clicks. No fluff. No hassle. Anyone can donate. Spread the word. Use the widget code on the landing page to post a link on your blog. Email everyone you know. Join the facebook group. Ask your friends to do the same! Win a trip. Besides the fact that the blogging world can literally impact 50,000 people before the end of the year, one person (and their guest) will be chosen at random to hand-deliver the shoes they purchased on a Soles4Souls trip to Mexico. Imagine handing someone their first pair of shoes… ever. Do the Math. If 500 people influence 10 people to donate, and those people influence 5 more, that’s 50,000 pairs of shoes ($5 buys 2 pairs). Get Started. Sign-up at, donate your $5, and start spreading the word.

...or check out Kids Lake this month... I just LOVE Kids Lake! This is a great way to help your children learn and get involved in poverty issues. This month they are helping some precious children in China who were affected by the earthquake. For $10 you can buy a blanket for a child in the worst affected area. For more info check out

My love to you all. Thank you for everything you do. We can turn our many blessings into hope for so many who have nothing. Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!!! HUGS! Angel
