The question of the night....

Does it make you a bad mom if you put your 2 year old to bed at 5:45pm cause you just can't make it till 7pm????? Let's just say this mom then leaves the room rejoicing that the toddler is now in bed.... is that wicked? This is all theoretical of course. ;0) Angel

I sometimes have to (and have had to) put mine (BOTH OF THEM) to bed up to an hour BEFORE their bedtime because life was NOT GOING WELL!!! I am surprised we made it to 8pm tonight, to be perfectly honest!!! whew..I now have a narly headache!!

wicked is if you don't and you "lose it" :(

problem is I might be "wicked" when the 2 year old woke me up at 4 am the next morning - ugh.

What that makes you is a mommy who has had her share of tantrums today.
Jake was in bed an hour early today too.
Face the phrase, "Lord give me strength." can only carry you so far. :)

Wicked would not be the way that I would describe that anonymous Mother.....it would be more like.....Normal!!!!

i think we've all been there. i agree with ellie. it's better than letting them push you too far. sometimes riley just gets "quiet time" in her room and she can play/read books, etc.. just to get away from me for a while. then i feel guilty 'cuz i'm supposed to be with her (since i'm not working outside the home), and enjoy this time and all that, but... i also know it's important for her to have her alone time too.

isn't it funny how they learn so quickly to push all of our buttons?

Hey, if said toddler needs bed at 6 then wicked is if you let her stay up. Poor baby obviously needed bed. Good mommy put her where she needed to be. Enjoy the rest of your toddler free evening.

I put my 8 yr old to bed at 6:30 last week :-)

Theoretically no. Hahahaha! Theoretically I may or may not have threatened the same thing with my two littles. And theoretically I may or may not have "suggested" that they go with their dad last night instead of roll on the floor in boredom and fatigue. ;)

Just theoretically, of course, but, does it make me evil that I am secretly thrilled that I am not the only one who has done this?? Theoretically, of course!

If I throw a fit can I go to be an hour early?? LOL! We've probably all been there and I agree that NOT recognizing she needs to be there would be more of a disservice.

Sounds like survival to me ... you "do what you gotta do!" If she needs sleep, she needs sleep! (I am assuming she did if she fell asleep and it had nothing to do with her behavior) :)

I was just having this conversation with another mommy today! I told her that it sucks once the kids learn how to tell time and you can't "sneak" their bedtime a little earlier. (It's not just toddlers that need to go to bed early sometimes!)

I haven't done bedtime that early before but I don't know how many times Mark and I have gotten the children down for the night and met in the living room with a loud sigh of relief. :)

You are only a bad mom if I am a bad mom for waiting until the last minute to pick up my kids from child care on Monday after a very loooong weekend... This is all in theory also...
