Kaiya update 2 months home!

Well it's been a little over 2 months home. I just filled out a post placement report and thought I would just put some of it on here so you can see how Kaiya is progressing. She is so wonderful!!! :0) Angel

Child’s Eating and Sleeping Habits:

Great eater… eats most anything. Starting to slow down on eating a bit and now will turn down food when full. Only picky if she knows you have something she wants! She sleeps about 12 hours at night and about an hour and a half during the day. Some days skips naps and sleeps longer at night.

Physical/Motor Skills:

She can walk and jog, learning to jump, feed herself, go down stairs on her belly, can navigate small steps on her own, can play in the water now, loves to wrestle with Daddy

Kaiya is learning at a rapid pace… she understands a lot of what we are saying. She can communicate many of her wants and needs using simple words or baby signs. Can answer what does a lion say with, “roar.” Can sometimes identify her nose when asked where it is. Can follow many instructions, “Go sit on the fussy spot. Sit down. Be careful- that’s hot. Throw that in the trash. Come here.” Can answer many questions, “Are you hungry? Are you sleepy? Do you want some water? Do you need a hug?”

Communication Skills:

Kaiya can say these words... good girl, more, mama, dada, Kaiya, all gone, I love you, up, hi, look, bye bye, tree, car, night night, hungry .. She also can shake her head no and will use hand gestures and noises to communicate. She can sign all done, hungry, more and thank you, water, night night, sorry, kisses, gentle. She makes up her own signs for some things and teaches US what they are. :0)

Social Skills/Interactions/Relationships:

Kaiya is becoming very interactive. She loves to go to the church nursery and workout center to play with other children. She does very well with all relationships unless someone has food they won’t share! :0) We are working on that!

Unique Characteristic/Habits/Behaviors of Child:

She has a fun sense of humor. Kaiya no longer rocks when she is upset. She has also started seeking out hugs for comfort from mommy on her own. She is generally very happy and fun but can throw a good temper tantrum like any respectable 2 year old. She will occasionally put herself in the fussy spot- which is hilarious. When she is done fussing she will do her sign for “all done” get up and give you an “I’m sorry hug.”

What awesome milestones!! It is great to read how Kaiya is blossoming. I love how she signs "all done" when she is done with a tantrum. How cute.

I love reading all that Kaiya is doing. She has made such amazing progress in such a short time. My hubby and I recently traveled to San Francisco for a weekend getaway. We saw lots of Chinese babies (we weren't far from Chinatown). I told Mark that maybe we should travel to China next and bring home another little one. He said no. :)
