Home School Time!

This is what a normal school day is like at our house. I know this is a crazy lot of videos BUT I have been video happy apparently! Plus I know you guys like getting to hear these kiddos. It's especially fun hearing Zoe sound all American and KK sounding ADORABLE!!!

Here is KK working or NOT working on her math. She was not terribly cooperative today. BUT she was really cute. That's the reason she gets away with so darn much! :0)

OK we got the wasp and then we attempted to finish our lesson. Yeah... good luck!

Here is Zoe reading a book. I am SO PROUD of my girl. She has been working so hard in school. Isn't she cool? We switched from our old reading program and tried "Hooked On Phonics." We both LOVE it!! She is doing great and Kaitlyn is reading a LOT now too. WOW!

Here is some Math. Some of you have asked what we use. It is Right Start Math. It is the BEST program for Math I have seen. I could not think of switching. Their methods are so original and productive. I see Zoe and Kaitlyn truly UNDERSTANDING and loving Math. I am even understanding things better. It's sad I know. I never really "got" Math. That is proven by the fact that I did part of the lesson wrong. Should have started the trading with the ones.... Oh well. She seems to be learning Math in spite of me! The curriculum is so good even I can't mess it up too badly. :0)

Art Class at our house....

Why my heart beats adoption...

My buddy Lisa just started up her blog again. You know- Lidia's Family! YAY! She had this on her blog and I just had to steal it. Thanks Lisa. Enjoy- and grab a tissue...

9 Years With My Best Friend

9 years ago today I walked down the aisle and said "forever." Where do I start? How do I begin to explain how I feel about this man I married? Just thinking about writing this has me teary eyed. I am so grateful that I chose this amazing person to share my adventure. I met Russ 11 years ago. 11 YEARS AGO! It seems like a few months ago. I was 19 and he was 20. The story of how we met is lots of fun. Maybe I will tell you that one soon but not today. Today is for my Russ.
Dear Soccer Boy,

How do I thank you for who you are? I can't possibly express what you mean to me. With all my heart I adore you. If I could choose any man in this entire world I would choose you all over again. Not because you are what is familiar or comfortable- although you are. :0)

I would choose you because of who you are. You are beyond amazing.

Before we even went on our first date I saw who you would be. I knew even then what you were capable of doing. After only a couple of months I knew it would be you and me forever. The night you asked me to marry you there wasn't a moment of hesitation. I was yours 11 years ago. I have been yours ever since and will be forever.

We were seriously babies when we fell in love. Growing up with you has been the best decision I ever made. I have had the privilege of watching you become this incredible man. You are becoming everything I dreamed I would have in a husband. You are so involved and precious with your girls. I could not ask for a better Daddy for my babies. You treat me like a princess and challenge me to become more than I thought I could be. You have backed me up in pursuing my dreams and opened up doors that I never would have seen without you. You are honestly far beyond what I imagined for my life. I am so honored to be your helpmate and partner.
I am crazy in love with you. Sometimes my heart still flutters when I think about you. I can't wait to spend time with you and tell you what's in my heart. I admire and respect you. When I see our future together I see wild adventures. I love that about us. Life is never boring with you Soccer Boy. Life is always an adventure. Together we are learning not to live afraid. We dream big, HUGE EVEN and then we watch it happen.

Amazing, that's what my life is. I could not ask for more. I can't imagine better than life with you. Thank you Russ. Thanks for choosing me, loving me, caring for me, pushing me towards greatness, putting up with me and adoring me the whole way. You are the greatest blessing in my life.
Love Always, Chipmunk

I made you this video babe. I hope you have fun seeing it all over again. Love ya!

My funny little cowgirl

For about 2 weeks Kaitlyn would ask to sleep in a different dress every night instead of pajamas. I said fine cause I am not picky as long as she is actually GOING to bed. Finally one night I asked her why she wanted to wear a dress. She said that she needed to be just like Aurora in Sleeping Beauty because SHE sleeps with her clothes on!

Kaitlyn was sitting at the table eating an orange. Suddenly it squirted her in the face. I thought she might get upset but she just giggled and said, " LOOK MOMMY! I just took a juice shower."

Here are some cute things you will hear at my house.

KAITLYN- Look mommy. If you take off Mrs. Potato Head's arms and legs and eyes she just looks like a poo poo!

KAITLYN- I am getting bigger mommy so I can go to the dentist and I can have my OWN car. It will be a PINK car and I will buy it by my OWN self. ( I bet dad will be glad to hear that)

Maker's Diet Info

Hey I got your question..... here it is...
Angel,I sent you an e-mail but I am not sure you got it. I have a few questions about The Makers Diet. My husband and I have read the book and really want to change our lifestyle but want to be informed. So here they are. We are on a very tight budget, is it afordable? Also; is it doable? What about traveling, vacations, going out to eat, going to family and friends houses, going to Guatemala for pick up?
Hey there!! I am SOOOO SORRY I haven't gotten back to you. I am glad you wrote again. I can't seem to catch up. If I haven't written anyone back PLEASE feel free to stalk me till I do. :0) I never mean to ignore anyone.
The Maker's Diet is probably going to be a little more expensive on the grocery side. In our experience it has not been tremendously more. We have cut out many expensive items we used to buy. ( we don't buy any prepared foods, cookies, frozen pizza, frozen lasagna etc.) We use that money to buy lots of fresh fruit and organic products. We also eat out less and do hardly any fast food. So that saves money.
I cook once or twice a week. I now own three crock pots and use all of them! I cook 4 or 5 meals at a time and just stick them in the frig. Then we eat whatever we want through the week. I use like crazy now. It is a great website.
As far as traveling it can be done. Eating out is not impossible by any stretch. We just go by the rules when we need to eat out. They are not difficult. Of course it won't be all organic or anything but you can stay within dietary laws easily.
Our last two vacations I have cooked food ahead of time and packed it in a cooler. I LOVED IT! We were eating healthy and it was WAY CHEAPER! We ended up not eating out at all and I LOST weight on vacation!!! :0)
When we go to family and friends houses we just make the best choices we can. We don't want to be legalistic or rude about it. We just do as much as we can whenever we can.
Going to Guatemala for pick up shouldn't be a problem. Again, it will have more crud in it but it will still be better than what you were eating before.
Here are things we eat when we eat out. BBQ brisket on a potato with sour cream and cheese, YUM! Chicken enchiladas with queso sauce on top, Fajita nachos, pot roast without the gravy, burrito in a bowl (no tortilla), salad with chicken, you get the drift.
Overall I can't imagine going back to the way we were eating. We feel better and look better. Not to mention the food TASTES better! Don't be intimidated when you read it all. If you just ease into it it's not really as hard as it seems. Now it is just getting to be second nature. I wish you all the best.

There have been a lot of great questions and comments in the comments section that I haven't gotten to answer. So I am going to do a post just answering those.
Q-Adorable! Love the pics of the baby and of your trip. You guys all look so happy and beautiful. What beach did you go to? It looks so pretty.D
A- Thanks!! We were in Perdido Key, FL. It was wonderful.
Q-OMG! Those scooter things look like so much fun. What are those called? What a couple of cuties you have!
A- They are called Plasma Scooters. My momma and her best friend got them. I bet you can find them on line.
Q-does lydia's family still have their blog? i can't remember the address and you don't have them on the side bar anymore!thankscorey
A- Unfortunately their blog isn't up and working. Bummer.... Maybe Lisa will read this and get inspired! Hint hint.. :0) However, they are doing great. Lydia is doing terriffic and we are going to visit her this summer. So you will get a full update on them then. They are also going to go pick up their newest addition this summer!! A little girl from China. WOW! How awesome are they?
Q- Who sings this song? I'd like to find it...Can you let me know?Thanks...Gina
A-I Never Saw Blue Like That. Haley Westenra sings it. Isn't it great?
Q-Angel,Do I see Alabama beaches in that picture??? It sure looks like our sand, and those chairs look VERY familiar. Email me and let me know.... Lou
A- Hey there! Nope, with the kiddos we tried out Panama City, Florida. I would LOVE to know of some great places in Alabama. We have had trouble finding good condos on line but it's closer to us. Will you leave some ideas in the comment section?
Q-question... were you exercising during these past few weeks that you have dropped the pounds?
A- Only a little. I try to park far away from the store and do lunges, crunches, squats etc during my favorite shows. That is ALL I've been doing.
Q-Angel, I'm one of Lou's friends, and I was reading your gluten-free testimony =-)on the other site. I am 12 weeks pregnant now, and I was wondering if it is ok for me to think about starting that now since I am pregnant. The tiredness from pregnancy is overwhelming sometimes, so I thought it might help if it's ok to do something like that now.
A- Of course I am no expert BUT I can't imagine why eating healthier foods (which is really all this is) would hurt you. I would absolutely eat this way ESPECIALLY if I was pregnant. I only wish I had known about this when I was prego! I don't think I would do any colon cleanses or fasts or anything but I am not even doing that now.
Comment- I want to pinch you - too much fun - I am here having sympathy labor and nausea - and you are getting a tan - sooo not fair! Julia
Answer- GIRL! First, you crack me up SOUL SISTA! Second, I don't want to hear it. You got the most adorable baby from the deal. I just got a tan. Hee hee!!! :0) Can't wait to meet that cutie. When I come we'll tan together!
Comment- Where are you guys???? How beautiful! Hope you are having a blast! (and I see that copy of The Maker's Diet!! Do it, Holly, do it!). Enjoy your time. Love you! Erin
Answer- We were in Florida! We had SO MUCH FUN! I think we may have won Holly over to the dark side. Hee hee... :0) Just kiddin'. BUT she did like the book! From what I hear the Maker's Diet is working great for you lady. AWESOME!
Comment- Some people walk in the rain. Others just get wet. --Roger Miller
Answer- WOW! I love that quote. Good stuff.
OK I think that covers it!! If I forgot anything or if you have a question you would like answered just leave it in the comment section. I'll try not to be SOOOO SLOW! :0) Angel

A Perfect Day...

OK After this I promise to lay off on the beach pics for awhile. I can't help myself!!! :0) It was perfect. So here's to girl friends. They are irreplaceable!
